Thanks to Optus Lying and then promising, then leaking and lying... I've decided to screw them and update my Samsung Galaxy S phone to Froyo manually.
[ROM] Doc Froyo XWJPA v7.6.2 / XXJPO v7.6.2 (6/11/10)
I installed the JPO, with the No-RFS Adv Ext4 Lagfix and all the boot tweaks enabled.
And it was easy as god damn pie. Just have to carefully follow the instructions...
Things to note. Definitely back up all the apps and system data with an app like MyBackupPro or Titanium. (you'll need root access first, which is easy to get with a one click root app)
Backup the /EFS folder which contains all your IMEI data. Just incase something stuffs up, you don't want to loose this.
This is such a great ROM, it doesn't require ODIN to do the flashing. You just need to use the Clockworkmod recovery mode and install the zip that way.
Seriously... I'd been scared that I'd brick my phone... Now I don't know why I didn't do it earlier!

Nice, finally accepting that Optus and Samsung have no plans to actually support their products.
ReplyDeleteSeriously ridiculous.
